I haven’t posted about what I’ve been doing for ministry in a while to I wanted to update you all

Last month- Calama, Chile:

I got to teach English with my teammates Catherine & Jessica to high school students. I was a bit nervous because I have only taught a little bit of English to little kids before, never teens. It ended up being such a good month. I got to know some of the students who spoke more English, and it was just a lot of fun. We did a class of “get to know you” questions and it was so cool to hear what they had to say. A lot of the students love Twenty One Pilots, love to play instruments, and a lot of them want to travel. I still don’t love teaching English, but I love that I got to build relationships with the students and that is what made teaching fun! We also lived with an amazing host family that were so welcoming and loving! We were seriously so blessed by them. This month was also a bit slower, so we had a good time of rest as well. The Lord knew exactly what we needed.

This month-outside the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina:

This month we are living in a community a couple hours outside the city in Matanza. There are 10 families living in the community. They all eat lunch together, have weekly bible studies, and afterschool programs for the kids in the afternoon. It is such a unique and wonderful community that has been created. All these families support each other. It has been such a blessing to be a part of it for our last month of ministry. I have gotten to hang out & love on the kids the past few weeks. Some of these families have as many as 10 kids of all ages. I love, love love getting to play with the kids!! Some days we literally just pick this fruit (I have no idea what it is called) from a tree, and hangout in the grass eating it. I love the simplicity and joy that kids have, it’s contagious. The Lord definitely answered my prayers to be apart of a ministry I would love and get to use my gifts in. On Mondays, we have a homework club, Tuesdays are English lessons, Wednesdays are music & art, and Thursday we have community outreach. From the moment we arrived here, there have been a few kids who I have really become attached too. Here are some pictures of my new friends:

It’s amazing how easily I have adapted to life here in Argentina. Some days I have to remind myself that I am going home soon. This chapter of my life is coming to an end; some days though I can’t stop thinking about going home. It’s a weird mix of feelings. Every month I want to tell myself to not get too attached, so it’s easier to leave. That NEVER works because every month there is someone I love and have truly enjoyed getting to know. I know this month will be the same. I look forward to getting to see all the kiddos every day  They are a little bit crazy, but so much fun! The other night we also had all the youth girls over for games & a movie! Wow it was seriously so much fun! Just dancing, eating cookies, and having a good time with the girls! This month is going to be a tough goodbye.

The team of amazing ladies I’m apart of is the best! We have so much fun together. We are weird and hilarious! It is so great to be a part of a team who truly love each other, want to grow deeper, and also have the best times. Honestly, there have been moments this month when we have all been tired and just really ready to go home, and we are able to be honest with where we are at and keep encouraging & challenging each other to keep going. I have learned a lot about living in a healthy, loving community these past few months. I know that this will be one of the harder parts of the race to leave behind.

We still have some time left here in Argentina. I plan to spend it well and make some more memories with the new friends I have made, and the community I’m blessed to be apart of.
