That my friends is a direct quote from me this morning (around 3:45 am) while sitting in the airport with some of my other squad members, just 10-12 of us make quite a dent in the airport floor plan. Just to see us all sprawled out and sleeping or standing guard while others slept – it was quite the sight…if I had any control over my own luggage or knew where anything was, I would have probably taken a picture, but for now words will do it justice.
I slept in my duffel bag, I have this enormous duffel that I use to store my pack to keep the straps safe in the airport, it mildly resembles a cross between a hockey gear bag and a body bag – so I turned it into more of the later. I didn’t have a blanket, and frankly airconditioning is quite cold while sleeping, so I burrowed into my body bag, zipped it up and covered my top half with my jacket – all while wearing my wolf sweatshirt. To say I got some looks in the airport is a bit of an overstatement, because at the time it was just security & our team for the most part, but I definitely made an interesting sight to behold. There were some who had blankets and pillows, but most were just using jackets and other clothing, either way we are well on our way to being World Racers.
I will be spending the day in the airport with Brittany Faith, just watching and enjoying human nature and the 4th of July still on American soil (there are people walking around with those Cat in the Hat/Uncle Sam hats – mildly excessive). Other team members will be arriving throughout the day, some are planning on kickin it at the beach, and I still haven’t decided whether or not I’m going…it’ll depend on what the weather is like and whether or not I have gone stir crazy in this airport.
