Last Tuesday and Wednesday we had the privilege to do some work with an organization call Kenya Relief.  They have an orphanage and clinic about fifteen minutes outside of Isibania.  There was team of different doctors doing eye cataract removal and general eye care, as well as a dentist and some pharmacists.  We got to go and help in various places, since Angela on my team is a nurse she was able to see some patients giving shots and dressing wounds.  Daniel and I helped the optometrist give eye test and we learned how to work some of the machines, like that one that blows a puff of air in your eye to tell your eye pressure!  SWEET!  Then a man named Dan that works for Kenya Relief gave me a camera and asked me to go take pictures…little did I know this pretty much gave me VIP access to all going on in the clinic.  I sat in on an eye surgery!!! It was cool, I learned a lot and enjoyed getting to sit with the patients and talk.  It reminded me of my days in the clinic in South Africa!

I also want to share a little bit about Kenya Relief, it was founded by a man named Steve; he had a daughter that passed away at age 19.  Her name was Brittney and she sponsored a little boy in Kenya, after her passing Steve wanted to come to Kenya and meet this little boy that had captured his daughter’s heart.  After several visits he started Brittney’s Home of Grace; an orphanage, and later came the clinic.  He does several trips a year of doctors and nurses; they have taken four trips of engineers to dig wells, and are looking for teachers to teach in the school they are hoping to open.  Steve was such a welcoming man and it was so encouraging to see a group of people so passionate about bringing healing to the sick and sight to the blind.
