At the farm we stayed at in Honduras there was a path at the edge of the property that led up the hill about 25 minutes to a cabin. It has a beautiful view that overlooks the valley below and the cliffs and hills across the way.

One afternoon I walked up the path a little ways and sat down with my IPod, just admiring God’s beautiful creation while singing praises to Him. After a little while, I see Andrea walking up the path carrying a box with 2 girls, that I’d never met before, right behind her. One of the girls said “Vamonos!” to me. So I grabbed one of the boxes, full of flour, and walked with them farther up the path. Before the cabin we took a right and walked a few more minutes before we reached their house. We met their mama, Rosalina, we found out their names are Clementine (20yrs.), and Jackie (18yrs.) Clementine has a 2 month old baby named Stephanie (2months) and Jackie has a son named Michael (1yr.) We also met their other siblings; Glenda (12yrs.), Jenny (10yrs.), Alexi (7yrs.), and Liliana (6yrs.)

We hung out with them for a little while, the kids teaching us some Spanish and them wanting to learn some English,  drank some mountain water that we found out could have been bad for us, and prayed for little Stephanie who was sick with a cold. They invited us to come back for a visit a few days later. We went back a few more times over the next couple of weeks. We played tag with the kids in probably the most dangerous place imaginable on the side of the hill with lots of rocks, the older girls taught us how to make tortillas from scratch; grinding up the corn, adding water, flattening them out and cooking them over a wood stove, we also were able to go to church with them a couple of times.

I loved the unexpected way we met them and got to know them and love on them. It’s funny how just being in the right place at the right time, sitting on that path, led to a great relationship with the whole family. I’m so thankful that God allowed us to be able to meet them and love on them throughout our time in Honduras. ๐Ÿ™‚

Isaiah 55:8-12~
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
            declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow
   come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
   without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out in joy
   and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field

   will clap their hands.”
