I really like the song by Brandon Heath called “Give Me Your Eyes.” I started liking it before I even came on this trip, but over the last 6 months or so I’ve really started listening to the lyrics and making them my prayer.

“Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity

Give me your arms for the broken hearted

Ones that are far beyond my reach

Give me your heart for the ones forgotten

Give me your eyes so I can see.”

A couple of nights ago we went to the Pattaya House of Prayer for a worship night. We didn’t know exactly where it was, we were just dropped off at the end of the street we were told it was on and had to walk a little ways to find it. Well as we started walking I realized we were right in the middle of the ‘red light district.’ There were bars everywhere we turned full of beautiful young women getting ready for the night.
It was so overwhelming for me walking down that road. It seemed so unreal yet so terribly real at the same time. All I wanted to do was cry. It was so hard for me to even look the women in the eyes as I passed by because my heart was so broken for them.

When we got to the prayer house we talked to the woman in charge about all the chaos of the bars we had just seen. We found out that although there is a lot of illegal trafficking and prostitution that happens in Pattaya, the women we saw standing outside of the bars and restaurants choose to be there. They choose to be there because they can’t find a job anywhere else and because it’s “easy money.” They get paid a lot for just a short amount of time. The women we saw that night aren’t forced to sell themselves.

After learning this it broke my heart once again, and made me wonder why?? Why do they seem to not care about selling themselves night after night? Why do some of them think this is their only option?

These women, and the men that pay for them each night, need to know what true love is. They need to know that true love comes only from the One who created them. They need to know that God sees them and that they can only find true contentment in Him.

1 John 4:8 “God is LOVE.”

The evening at the prayer house turned out amazing. It made me realize that God’s love really is there amongst the chaos. His light is shining in the city. As I sat there singing praises to the Father I was reminded once again about that song by Brandon Heath. Even though I could barely look at the women as I walked passed them earlier, I knew I needed to. So I began to pray.

“Give me your eyes for just one second

Give me your eyes so I can see

Everything that I keep missing

Give me your love for humanity.”

I knew that it would be too overwhelming for me to try to show love to all of those women by my own abilities. I need to be able to see the women the way that God sees them, as beautiful daughters of the King. I need Him to fill me up with His perfect love so that I can share it with those women.

I want to be overflowing with the true love of the Father.

1 John 4:10-12 “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
