Everything about Kenya is beautiful, especially the people.

This month my team is partnering with a church in Kitale, Kenya. We are staying in a village outside of the main city called Kochibora. So far we’ve done quite a few house visits, and have helped out with the daily church meetings. They have two services each Sunday and then during the week they have a lunch hour meeting where a short Bible study type lesson is taught and an evening sermon.

I actually had the chance to talk at the lunch meeting on Friday. I shared about God’s love for us and how because of His great love we don’t need to be afraid of anything because He’ll always provide all of our needs and give us the strength we need.

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

2 timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. “

The people here are so loving. They don’t even know us, yet upon meeting us we get hugs and are invited into their homes for tea. During our house visits I’ve been so encouraged by their overwhelming joy and compassion. During one visit in particular, I met a young man who had just graduated from high school. He’s had quite a few medical problems growing up. His dream is to go to university to become a doctor so that he can help others. Even through all his struggles, he shared with us that a slogan of his has been “don’t determine your life by what you can’t do.” It seems like it would be so easy for him to give up because of the circumstances he’s in, but I know he won’t.
