I fight against this kind of evil back home…from a distance. The kind of evil that gives you chills down your spine. The kind of evil that is hard to believe exists. The kind of evil that sees a human being not for who they are, but for the profit they will gain as a result of exploiting their life.
This month, I looked this evil in the face. I brushed the walls of his home as I went inside my gate each day. I watched as van after van would drive inside his gates and back out again. My stomach burned with indignation as the seemingly helplessness of the situation sank in.
But then, I realized we were called to Cornesti, Moldova at this time for a reason…and it wasn't to sit helplessly by as women, men, and children were being exploited by our next door neighbor. So we decided to do a Jericho March around his property. Just like Joshua was commanded in Joshua 6 to walk around Jericho silently for six days, we marched around each day for six days praying silently and on the seventh day, we marched around silently six times, but on the seventh time, we shouted a victory song as we marched around his house.
While we didn't see the literal walls of his house fall down, we know that something was broken in the spiritual realm. Just as Joshua said to the people in Joshua 6:16b, "Shout, for the Lord has given you this city!" We shouted for we believe that the Lord has given Cornesti, Moldova freedom from this evil.
