So i went on a mission trip to Arlington with my youth group as a sponsor. We had an awesome week. Mission Arlington is amazing. Super organized. Tilly a former over seas missionary came home and started mission Arlington 20 something years ago. This mission focuses on bringing church to the people. They have 286 apartment churches/ churches in trailer parks. This is such a huge outreach.
One of the things that really stuck out to me was all the donations they get. They have a Christmas store for parents to shop for children and another one for children to shop for their parents. How awesome. Also they get to give furniture and clothes away and anything else they get donated. They give it all away….one morning we got to do a free garage sale in an apartment complex. It was awesome. We just knocked on doors and people came and got whatever they needed. We had an entire bus full of things to give away. It was such a blessing to be able to be a part of it.
Another part of the ministry was rainbow express which is sort of a dialed back VBS (vacation bible school). We got to into an apartment complex and hang out with all the kids that live there. The apartments that our group got to go to was awesome. We met a ton of little kids they were so sweet and it was sad to say goodbye. We played epic games of kickball and sharks and minows, made crafts, colored, a memory verse, and bible stories. It was all just so cool. To see THE BODY working as it should was just beyond explination.
