This past week has been pretty fantastic. YWAM’s youth camp
started, so we’ve jumped into our official ministry in the Ukraine. The first
couple of days were interesting… we had a pretty solid turnout according to
staff who had worked the camp in the past. As non-Ukrainian speakers we were a
little hesitant on what our role could possibly be. At first we observed a lot
and tried to jump in on games and soccer as much as we could. We’ve been in
charge of big group games for the week… that’s been embarrassing/hilarious. If
the kids aren’t enjoying participating in the interactive songs, they’re at
least being entertained by some crazy American antics.
Here are a couple of the camp girls, Adelina and Katchya (haha definitely not spelled right)

Each day, someone brings a story that revolves around our
theme for the week. This week’s theme has been hope. The kids have learned
about Joseph, Lazarus, Job, and Isaiah 40:31. The message throughout the week
has been that because of Jesus, we can all have hope… no matter our
circumstances or what we’ve done. We can choose to follow God and go down a
different path than the one we see everyone else going on. I think it’s an
important thing for these kids to hear; they don’t have to follow in their
parents’ footsteps.
By today the kids have really warmed up. They’re running up
to us with hugs and smiles. They’re patiently trying to communicate the rules
of Uno with us (their rules anyways). It’s pretty precious.
We’re here for one more week of camp, and then it’s off to
Romania. I can’t believe my first month of the World Race is almost over. So
weird. Please pray for the logistics of getting to Romania to get worked out…
apparently there’s a lot of flooding there right now so we’ve been unable to
book train tickets. We might just be spending roughly 30 hours on a bus to get
there. We should find out about what we’ll be doing in Romania very soon… so
I’ll let ya know.

Happy 4th everyone!
