Our team split off into two groups of two for the last 3 days of ministry in Chile in order to meet with a few more potential contacts before our month of unsung heroes ends. Aubrey & I were given the task of meeting with one last pastor on our way to debrief with the entire squad. This month has been full of wonderful opportunities, sites, and hospitality but we were still nervous to take on this task by ourselves. God is so good to us, though, and after a 6-hour bus ride, we were greeted by four friendly faces.
After introductions, food, and genuine conversation with the pastor, his wife, and three other church members (one being a sweet, sweet, girl who generously translated for us), we were treated to a short drive to the most beautiful view of Temuco, Chile. The Lord provided (as he always does) clear communication between our group even after our translator had to part ways. We were treated to AMAZING ice cream and home-made chicken soup, along with hilarious banter. Somehow Aubrey & I accidently on purpose taught them the English word for bruja (witch) when referencing mother-in-law’s.
I could not believe how much Spanish Aubrey & I could understand in the 8 hours that we spent with these amazing people. We were able to share testimonies, tell stories, and laugh at jokes in a language that was not our own.
The Lord will always provide! He is universal, omnipresent, and FOR us. I was completely and totally blessed by the people I had the opportunity to meet in Temuco. Seeing Jesus in them was a wonderful way to end this unsung heroes month. “The church is in our hearts, not in a building.” This pastor is bringing the Kingdom of God here in Chile and I am so grateful we were able to share a few hours with him and his family.
These are the days I am going to remember forever.
