It's thanksgiving, but this year there will be
no turkey,
no parade on TV,
no pumpkin pie,
no football,
But you know what there will be?
Fried chicken
A parade of Americans searching for wifi to skype their famalies
Candied Ayote (Nicaraguan squash)
Americans teaching nicaraguan children how to play futbol americano
21 Loving orphans and 12 loving teammates
This is the first of many holidays over the next year that are going to be a little different.
Traditions are going to have to be modified.
My family here isn't blood related, they are my teammates.
I should be wearing a scarf, but I am sweating in a tank top.
The post-dinner activity will most likely be swimming in the lake and teamtime.
But I wouldn't have it any other way.
This year, I am so thankful to be on the World Race.
So thankful to be in Nicaragua.
So thankful to get to share my culture with Nica children.
So thankful for internet that connects my family, countries apart.
So thankful for the support of my family and friends.
So thankful that the Lord is so good.

Praying that you have a blessed Thanksgiving today!
