4.) Shiloh! This christian organization has two branches. One is a warehouse ministry in which they store food, clothes, baby care products, and medical supplies for those in need. And the other is a unique kind of soup kitchen! The Shiloh food ministry prepares and cooks food for other food distribution centers that feed the hungry in the surrounding communities and also holds outreaches at where they feed the community and share the gospel at the same time! Team Untamed Passion had the privilege of spending a lot of time here, helping them make mass quantities of PB & J’s, sort and chop dozens of crates of tomatoes, trim fat off of pickled beef tongue, and make 7000 meals one Saturday morning! We also had the blessing of getting to know and love the 3 wonderful ladies, Arlene, Johleen, and Jodi, who work at this ministry! Every time we were there they had us laughing and filled us with such joy! Spontaneous dance parties in the middle of cooking were a frequent occurrence, as well as them singing beautiful Xhosa worship songs and trying to teach them to us. 😉 The best part was that they were so in love with Jesus that it completely radiated from them every second you spent near them! I loved sitting down for our morning tea break and just getting to listen to Arlene talk and soak in all of the Godly wisdom that she always had to share! Every afternoon when we left, I always felt so encouraged and refreshed by the latest bit of wisdom miss Arlene blessed us with that day!
5.) Street ministry. Johan is an evangelist to the core and one of the awesome ways he shares the gospel is through night ministry downtown. This is where he goes out and takes teams to minister to ladies who are involved in prostitution. The vision that God has given him for this particular ministry and the way he’s shown Johan how to go about reaching these girls is truly amazing and it stretched and grew my faith in so many ways! On nights that we had night ministry, we all gathered around to pray and ask God for specific people, a specific message to give them, and a specific location where we will meet them. Until all of these questions about God’s appointment that he has fro us that night are answered, we do not stop praying. The first time I got to experience this “treasure hunt” type of ministry, God blew my socks off! We asked the Lord to reveal to us who he wanted us to talk to, where they would be, and what time we would meet them, and we started to receive visions and words from God that helped guide our every move that night. It was one of the most incredible things to see the exact places and landmarks that God had revealed to us during prayer in person. For example: One of the things one girl saw when she was praying was a black car sitting under a lamppost in an empty parking lot… and sure enough we saw that exact thing the very first place we stopped that night!
With all of the tastes of different ministry that we got to be a part of, my team going to deeper places in our sisterhood with one another, and the personal growth and intimacy I experienced in my own relationship with the Lord, this month was truly incredible and very fruitful!
PS: Thanks so, so much for everyone’s prayer and support for my journey!! I am still in amazement that my last financial deadline was met in time and I can’t believe I only have one more to go to be fully funded!! Please continue to keep that in prayer as well! January 1st is my VERY LAST financial deadline in which I need approximately $4000 more dollars. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord will bring it in, I trust Him so completely!
