Here’s the first of many blogs I am very behind on. Life is good.
I am already halfway through the race. It seems like yesterday this wild idea crossed my mind; it seems like yesterday the fundraising battle was in my midst; it seems like yesterday I left all that I loved for the unknown. But at the same time it feels like forever ago. Being halfway through messed with my mind a bit, but it brought me back to the halfway point of my half-marathon days.
My heart beating fast, my legs are running tired, and my lungs want to give out. My mind flashes back to the days of training in the cold, the rain, and the heat reminding me how far I’ve come, how many miles I’ve run, and sweetly offering hope of making it to the finish line. I’m halfway there.
My best friend, Kate and I when I was home trained for our half-marathons everyday. We knew that the halfway point felt like the whole race while at the same time felt like we just started. So you don’t know what to do because you feel the joy of running and you feel the lingering cramps.
It can cause us to lose sight of the finish line; however, God has faithfully trained us for this very season. We’re in training for the next big race. It’s cheesy, but often in the middles and halfways I lose vision.
Vision is not always seeing, vision is having faith and continuing like a river and not stopping like a reservoir. It’s not forgetting the training, the mileage, and the oh so many sweet joy runs, cool air blessings, and adventures leading to new trails(sometimes getting lost).
I will never forget both times we ran a half marathon and crossed the finish line. It felt like the greatest accomplishment, but then we’d always sign up for another race. If you’re a participant, the race stops at the finish line. If you’re a racer, it never stops even after you cross the finish line. I hope to live a life full of many races, not just one. I want to run them by faith. There will be cramps along the way, but when we are running them with God the joy will help us to the finish and launch us into the next races with many more finish lines.
I want to inspire. I want to empower, my generation, to rise to the challenge of more, more of Him. All accomplishments aside, this is YOUR race marked out for you.
“He must become greater; I must become less.”
