Two weeks ago:
Two weeks ago my team and I worked with high school students. I am so thankful God is continuing to send us to schools! It was a really awesome opportunity because even though their school was out 26 students invited by their teachers came eagerly. I could not tell you why they would come on their break because that would rarely happen in America, but we all had an incredible time together playing games, teaching English, singing karaoke, playing in a soccer tournament (my favorite), performing skits and Thai dances, sharing testimonies and Bible stories, and eating lunch with the teachers. These are teachers and students who have never heard the name of the Lord. God is moving and planting seeds in the hearts here.
On one afternoon my teammate Emily had the opportunity to use her knowledge in physical therapy and help a member of our church, Nuek, who is paralyzed on the left side of his body from a motorcycle accident, and I went with her. He cannot make it to church with his wife but we go to his house at least once a week for small group and worship. He never got the medical attention he needed so, although he has made progress in his recovery we know he is not where he could be, and that breaks my heart for him. We stretched him out because his muscles were really tight and Emily shared those stretches with him so he can continue to do them everyday, but he also shared something with us we will never forget. He has complete trust in God and complete joy in the Lord in his life and for his frustrating situation. His story is incredible, please go to emilyjohnson.theworldrace.org to check out a more complete story! I am ashamed to admit it, but I did not want to go, I was exhausted and I knew Emily was completely capable to go by herself; but I could feel God telling me to go and I am so thankful he was at work within me making me check my priorities just so that I could witness this!
The Sunday following the team and I washed the feet of the members in the church. We were able to pray over them while we showed them symbolically the extent of Gods love for them *John 13. Afterwards, we joined some of the members to work with some children at a family camp where 6 provinces worth of churches gathered at a zoo!
Last week (Debrief):
Now that I have caught you all up on my life I apologize for making you wait two weeks; I unplugged from wifi to make space for God to move in my heart. I am on a journey where God is working in me and then where he is working through me, and I cannot miss the steps where he wants to work in me. Now that I have sat here for an hour thinking about how to put this I simply want to say debrief was a period of rest and fruitfulness. I am growing so much I cannot keep up, but I am holding on tightly to him. I am not only his as I wrote about in my last blog. He is mine. Through all of my stories and experiences he is the one with the power, wisdom, and knowledge. I am here to love and to love our Father well because he loved me first and I can be his vessel because he lives inside of me. He is mine, he is in me, and I am in him.
“And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom he has given us”
-Romans 5:5
Also God said there was a change of plans. My 3n9 trip has turned into a 4n9 trip. Due to visa and border complications my squad and I will do ministry in Cambodia for a month and we leave in 10 days! We will be partnered with a ministry there but as of right now I have no idea what we will be doing exactly. I will keep you all updated when I find out! My team and I are very sad to be leaving our amazing ministry here but know that God has something great in store for us! Please keep us in your prayers as we make this transition! 🙂
Also Kayce Stevens, my wonderful team leader made a video about a day in the life here. It’s great and you should go to her blog to check it out right now!
