I’m not the biggest fan of Facebook (because, though I'm 22, I struggle so much with social media)
I don’t really understand how to use it.  I seldom post or respond to posts.  I often forget to reply to messages.  But when a friend of a friend sent me a message saying she wanted to meet up with me and hear a little bit about the ministry I’m involved in I thought I’d better respond.
We had tentatively set up a time to get coffee and discuss, but before that date approached, we saw each other at church.
She ran up to me and we started talking about Young Life (the ministry I volunteer with), Detroit, how we both have a heart for the homeless, etc.  Then she interjects, “you have to check out this website!”  Another thing I never used to do-look up websites people insisted I check out.  But this time I checked out the website.  The World Race website.
I was blown away.
An answer to prayer!  Tell the world about God and His grace and His love and His plan for each and every one of His beautifully unique children??!!  SIGN ME UP!
Okay wait.  Maybe I should clue my parents in on this huge life decision.
So I did.  “Hey Mama, I have something to tell you…I’m leaving on a jet plane and going to preach the gospel in Central America, Africa, and Asia.”
Without much hesitation (just the normal parental nervousness and apprehension), they explained, “we saw this one coming for a mile, alright now, go!”
With God’s calling, my parents approval, and my blazing heart, I waited for the January 2014 routes to be posted.
Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rice, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Done.
I sat down the next day, said a prayer of Holy Spirit guidance, and typed out my application.
Then I had my interview.
I was nervous.  I had never had an interview before.  I prayed before and God revealed just how amazing and sovereign He is over everything.  The interview went wonderfully.  I laughed, I cried, and the gal who interviewed me and I had similar aspects to our testimonies (thank you Lord for linking us together!).  She said I’d hear back in a week.
Ooh wee that was a long week!
But as she promised, I heard back in a week.  My heart was pounding.  I knew God had called me to do this, but all of a sudden I was shaking in my boots!  Then I heard it, “you’re accepted.”  I think my heart swelled to the size of a basketball in my chest.  I was running around my room shrieking “thank you, thank you!”
Since that moment, God has spoken and revealed even more to me.  He’s preparing my heart for this trip.  He’s preparing my heart for the journey, the most amazing, exciting, fulfilling, Jesus centered journey I could ever dare to dream.
Let the prayer, preparation, and adventure begin!
My heart is on fire and I am so ready to begin this crazywonderfulawesome chapter with the Lord.
To Him be the glory, honor, praise!
