India has captured my heart. For some unexplainable reason, I feel at peace here. Going into India I expected there to be a huge culture shock that would totally rock my world for about a week…but from the get go, it was easy to dive right in. Because of how wonderful this place is. Upon arriving to Sarah’s Covenant Home, I met this little man.

It’s not hard to see why every single girl on my team fell head over heels for this little boy within minutes of being at the Home. Each time he blew kisses or played peek-a-boo, he stole a little more of our hearts. A few days after being at the home, we were told that Riley had a degenerative disease that would slowly take away his ability to swallow and even breath. I asked our contact if there were options…feeding tubes, anything to allow this little boy to live. She replied:
“There is, but I don’t know that there is here in India.”

My heart was crushed.

For the next few days I prayed…relentlessly. I remember sitting next to him one day as he sat in Cheyennes lap, and I asked him…:”Riley, I think I’m going to fast and pray for you to be healed…do you think that’s a good idea?” With intent in his eyes he nodded his head, “yes”. And he doesn’t speak a lick of english…or telugu for that matter. Looking in his eyes though, he knew what I was saying. So I did. I fasted. I prayed. I begged. Our whole team did.

Then his blood tests came back.
Negative.
They came back free from any degenerative disease. It wasn’t there. It was gone.

Where some people may see coincidence, I see a miracle. I truly believe that the Lord healed this little boy from a potentially fatal disease. It just blows my mind…how good is God!? Please continue to pray for Riley. Pray that he finds a home. Pray for continued healing as he struggles with Neurological Conditions as well. And pray thanksgiving. SO much thanksgiving. Because we are soaking up every minute!

Now, Meet Rachel!

Rachel came to the home with a few conditions, one of which resulted in her losing the bottom portion of her left leg. That doesn't stop her from flying around the house, though! Rachel has one of the most beautiful smiles I've seen…and reminds me so much of my little sister. It's been such a blessing to get to know her.
And to see her miracle come to fruition.
Rachel walked…I watched her. She went from one leg, to two in a matter of minutes.

I think that we as believers get caught up in the fact that we need to see fleshly healing, that we miss the healing God does through other materials or means. In this case, a prosthetic leg. Rachel walked back and forth across the room…learning to bend her new knee…heel, toe, heel, toe…I couldn't help but be choked up as I watched a grin creep across her face the more and more she walked. This girl will be running some day.

Pray for Rachel. While learning to walk is a dream come true, it is painful for her to learn. Pray that it is a smooth transition. Also, because she is 12, she will soon hit the age where she will not be able to be adopted…which is 13-14. Please pray that the hearts of a family are open when they look at this sweet girl…and that they realize their family is incomplete without her.

I am so blessed and honored to see how the Lord is working in this place. How he is making things happen that are beyond our wildest imaginations. The Lord is in this place. And I am so thankful to be a part of it…even for just a month.
