Finding out your dad has cancer on the race is no joke.
Taking a physical step on the plane to the Philippines was one of the hardest decisions of my life. So weeks later sitting in the Philippines hanging on every text my mom sent about my dad…was difficult. Thankfully, we had wifi at the compound so I was able to check in everyday. It was nice to feel a part of the family bonding that was going on at home…because one of my biggest fears was missing that aspect of this journey. It was amazing to FaceTime in the morning just as they were going to bed…so that I could start my day off at ease. As the 14th drew closer, I literally was hanging by the threads I was counting every Saturday. Still, as every bracelet passed through my fingers, I was reminded that each bracelet was made of a hope that surpassed all fear. That these women who make the bracelets to provide for their families, believed in what they were doing as they wove the intricate colored thread back and forth into the designs you might have tied around your wrist right now. On the 14th, my mom, dad, and grandparents left for the Mayo clinic to seek treatment options for my dads prostate cancer (STORY HERE).
What happened that week is something that I could have only dreamt about.
During the appointment, my dad was told that surgery was a viable option…that they would take the lymph nodes out and biopsy them to make sure that there was no cancer, despite them being enlarged. Turns out, there had been a cancelation and there was an opening the next day for the surgery. The next day! After some discussion, my mom and dad decided to go through with it. They searched everywhere for a hotel to stay the week in…and because of a convention in the area, were basically told that “there was no room in the inn”….anywhere. So just as they were about to just trust it to the Lord, they got a call from a nearby hotel saying that they had a last minute cancelation and an open room…that happened to have two bedrooms and a kitchen. Exactly what they needed.
So now, I know my update to you all is a little late…but I have really just been overwhelmed by what the Lord has done.
I am pleased to report that I believe my dad is Cancer Free.
He of course has appointments every few months for a while, but I believe the Lord used the surgeon and has very much healed my dad of all cancer.
Do you hear what I’m saying?
He’s healed.
Thank you all for your prayers. I am so thankful for the thousands of people who were bathing my father in prayer as we all walked through this. And I’m so thankful to my Team Remnant for their love, encouragement, and support the entire time we were in the Philippines.
God is good. All the time.
