i should catch you all up….
Peru has been busy!

We have been here a few weeks…here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve been doing ๐Ÿ™‚

The night we arrived we were welcomed at midnight with hugs and kisses…those hugs and kisses have not ceased.  The church people here are very friendly-full of love and joy. The truly do love one another (and our team) as a family and it’s been neat to be apart of that.

In the next few days we recieved our packages..This was so fun! It really was like Christmas in March.. (thanks Linda SO MUCH for all the fun stuff!)

We are in a city called Villa El Salvador…It’s very hot and dry here (only 2 inches of rain per year).  Another thing is that there is no grass or trees here (well maybe one every 5 blocks).  It’s really wierd and different from any places that we’ve have been so far.  The ground is covered in sand and dirt.  I wash my feet about 3 or 4 times a day. ๐Ÿ™‚

We are working alot up on a hill in a city called Lomo de Corvina.  We have gotten permission to build a church there and right now we are visiting people in the community and have done a few childrens programs.
We also are going to various parts of town to visit people, share our stories, and doing some school programs throughout the day, etc.

Last night we went to another city. We were able to do street ministry and work with teenage (gang members) students.  All we were told was that they were ‘bad boys’ and it would be dangerous.  I must admit…this was the most enjoyable thing I’ve gotten to do since we started in January.  I love teenagers!  We did a few programs and then afterwards I pulled a few girls aside and got to chat with them for awhile.  It was a lot of fun!

We are working long days here in Peru.  Getting to meet tons of people and experience life.  I have been asked on several occasions if I would like to try Guinea Pig (something they eat here) and my answer has continued to be ” No thanks!”

Thanks so much for keeping up…sorry I haven’t blogged in awhile.  I promise to upload some pics soon. (i can’t wait to show you the dogs here in Peru…they are plain nasty looking!) you will be shocked! ๐Ÿ™‚
