I realized
when leaving home for this year of adventure that my life, my day to day, would
be quite different than before. I would
be eating different food. I would be spending my time with different people. I would be dressing differently. So many
things would be changing…

Don´t be jelouse!!!

yes thats a head lamp…my awesome outfit…a toothbrush in my hand and and awesome socks with sandles!!! (our kitchen is located to the right of me)

I was
thinking the other day of all the differences in my life here. So I made a quick list to name a few…I’m sure
you will get a laugh out of some of the things…

*

Pedestrians

DO NOT have the right a-way.

*

I
can go days or even weeks without getting into a car or any mode of
transportation.

*

I
have gone days without looking into a mirror.

*

Sometimes
my mirror is solely the windows in shops or stores.

*

I’ve
gone

days without a shower

*

And

weeks
without a HOT shower. (Cold
water is not that fun)

*

I’ve
taken a shower with only a tarp, a bucket and a cup.

*

Mountains,
volcanoes, waterfalls, etc. are as normal to see as a Starbucks in North Dallas.

*

Clothes
can be worn up to about 4 or 5 times without

REALLY smelling bad!!!

*

Straight
roads no longer exist – only curvy, bumpy ones covered with speed bumps.

*

Turkeys

and chickens are the world’s

WORST alarm clock.

*

Dogs
that bark throughout the night can be silenced with sleeping pills.

🙂

*

My
new scent of perfume is DEET bug spray.

*

I
don’t think you can ever pay too much for a good sleeping pad/mat!!!

*

I’m
learning to enjoy watching movies on a 2´5 inch screen (instead of a 42 inch or larger). (my ipod)

*

Toe
nail polish can make your feet look clean and like a million bucks (even covered
in dirt).

*

Usually
when I wash my hands…black water fills the sink.

*

Visa

really is anywhere you want to be. (Master
Card is not accepted as much)

*

´Loving
others as yourself´ is easy to read but much harder to live out.

*

Doing
laundry by hand is a TASK. Usually 2 hours just to wash!!!!

*

It’s
not a good idea to do laundry in the river when others are gutting fish up
stream from you. (this happened to me)

*

I
can buy about 14 delicious bananas at the market for less than .50 cents total.

*

Dinner
in a restaurant most likely will always involve someone trying to sell you
something.

*

My
IPOD is worth a MILLION dollars!!!!! (thanks to Epic students and staff)

*

COLD

beans,

FLOUR
tortillas, and tomatoes could be compared to Filet Mignon…it’s one of our
highest quality meals. (yes I know how sad that is).

*

The
trash can in by the stool is always filled with USED toilet paper. (they don’t
flush it here) uck.

*

Movie
tickets (in Antigua) are 2 dollars per person.

*

Skittles
are over a dollar for a small bag…(and well worth every penny).

*

I’m
fully content with the fact that if I never eat another tortilla in my life…I’ll
be content and happy.

*

There
are only 2 flavours in Central America…Chile and Lime.

*

Being
away from my friends and family is

WAY harder than I ever imagined!!!

*

Sending
a single postcard cost around 3 dollars

* I have used a HAND dryer as a hair dryer.

* why learn spanish when you can play cheraids with people. (I could beat ANYONE at cheraids!)

*

I’m
realizing life is not as fun when you live it for yourself.

So there
are a few…a quick glimpse into my life. Hope you had a good laugh at a few of
them…I defiantly have…it’s new but I’m definitely learning to adjust and enjoy
it!

Love you
ALL and MISS you tons!
