Hello everyone! I am writing a quick blog from Livingston, Guatemala. Livingston is a peninsula that is only accessible by an hour 1/2 boat ride. We took a slow boat here on Tuesday. We came out here on Monday to help a pastor and his church. They were very excited to have us! They mentioned that a lot of people visit the church in Livingston (in town) but they have not had visitors in a long time at their church (out of town). The pastor’s name is Marcos. He has a wife and 7 children. The family is incredible! They have welcomed us in, allowed us to sleep in theirchurchand provided us meal after meal. We were told about the pastor from our contact in Puerto Barrios that the pastor and the church were very poor. I am continuing to learn the lesson of giving. These people truly give, I feel, above what they have. It is a lesson I need to learn. They give…not out of their abundance…
but out of their lack. How incredible the hearts of these people…of those who have learned…
it is better to give than receive! Today we went and visited a few houses. We walked through the mud, over log bridges, viewed amazing sites of palm trees and flowers…we also sweat a lot! J It was remarkable to see the Pastors heartbeat for his people. I pray that we will be an encouragement to him while we are here. We will be helping with services and have been told that we have a translator coming to meet us tonight to help us! If we find out that its okay for women to preach in this village…I am hoping to do that tomorrow night. We are staying in Livingston until Thursday. We then will return to Puerto Barrios. Please continue to pray for my team! We are eating a lot of different food here in Livingston and the heat here is much hotter than in Puerto Barrios. Annie is doing an amazing job of translating for us…so pray for her extra! 🙂
