Hello everyone! I’m so excited to write all of you! Things are going really good. After the bus ride we arrived in
Chiapas at about 10 p.m. We stuffed ourselves in rooms (6 US dollars a night per person) and had a good nights rest. Internet is only about 50 US cents an hour. And town is only about a 2 or 3 mile walk from where we are staying. This is all of our luggage!
We are in
Chiapas, which is in the southern part of
Mexico. This picture was taken right outside of where we are staying!
Incredible!
I’m becoming very accustomed to my ‘new’ life. For the last few days I’ve become very well acquainted with my new home – my tent. Which I must say, was worth every penny I paid for it. I’ve been camped out (on a roof top) since I arrived here and it’s rained for the past 3 days straight! Literally, rained day and night with only 2 minute breaks of sprinkles. I’m happy to say though, that the inside of my tent has stayed completely dry. Yeah! I’ve also already had to face one of my biggest fears – spiders!
This was spotted right outside of our sleeping area. Ugh! Right now we are doing a lot of training, debrief, team focused time, praying, etc. We’ve had a really good last week. Two of last year’s world racers are here with us and they have been such an encouragement and help to all of us who are starting out.
At the beginning of the week we go to visit some ancient Mayan ruins.
We also visited a church. They were having a celebration to celebrate Kings Day and our teams visiting them. As we arrived we were informed they had killed a cow in order for us to have lunch. At lunch time we saw that was literally true.
The meal was so delicious and the people there were incredibly warm. We meet a woman that last years racers had prayed for. She was told by doctors that she would never be able to have children. She stood there with her baby locked in her arms. God has healed her! It was really incredible to see the fruit from last year’s team.
Later that day we visited some sweet waterfalls up in the mountain! They were truly incredible. And of course, the adventures people that we are – we decided to climb and jump off of the falls. It was so amazing!
On Monday we will be dropped off in the mountains. We are not sure yet where we will be staying – but we are praying God will provide us with something (possibly indoors)! We will be there for the next 3 weeks working in that area trying to build some relationships with the locals. Pray that hearts will be open to us.
Thank you all so much for your comments!!! I wish I could show you the smile it brings to my face! I’m so lucky to have you all in my life. Thanks for experiencing this journey with me. I couldn’t (and wouldn’t want to) do it without all of you!
Adios!
