This month, I have had the privilege of working with these little kiddos. My team and I are working at Agape Angkor school in Siem Reap, Cambodia. When it first opened, it was the only Christian school in Cambodia and still is the only Christian school in Siem Reap. We have been living at the school and leading morning and nightly devotions, teaching english, the bible, songs, games, and sports. We have been very busy, but this month has been so good so far!
Daily life at a glance:
5:30- Attempt to wake up to workout
6:30- Morning devotional with the team
7:00- School starts! Our team shares a message with the kids
7:30-11:00- Teach english/bible/songs & games
11:00-1:00- Lunch and rest time
1:00-4:00- Teach english/bible/songs & games
5:00-6:00- English class for the kids who live at the school
6:00-Dinner
7:30-Nightly devotional with the kids
The school has 15 kids who live here full time. They are kids who either don’t have parents, were living on the streets, or are too poor to afford school (average school tuition here is $100/year). They are being sponsored monthly to stay here! A huge part of our ministry this month, other than teaching, is just spending time with these kids and loving them! They are so fun and cute, and they are always running up to us and yelling “teacher, teacher!” as well as writing us love notes and trying to teach us how to speak in Khmer. I can now successfully count in Khmer after being forced to recite the numbers a million times. 🙂
It’s such an honor to be able to pour into them and influence them. Please be praying for the kids and teachers here, as many of the kids have come from broken families, are very poor, or have suffered from sexual abuse. Additionally, many of the teachers and students here are not yet Christians. Our team and squad have been experiencing a lot of spiritual resistance here in Cambodia, which although difficult has demonstrated the power of the Gospel and the fact that God is doing something big here.
