I came into the week of training camp expecting it to be a physically, emotionally, and spiritually draining week. And while it wasn’t without challenges, it was actually pretty fun! The food wasn’t super weird and we didn’t do as many physically demanding things as I had anticipated. But we did get to experience different sleeping arrangements, simulations of situations that might happen abroad, awesome teachings, dance parties, and campfires!
Here are some tidbits that I gathered!
CommUNITY– our wonderful squad leaders both felt like a big word for our squad was unity. Let me tell you, they were right. I’ve never felt so close to a group of people in such a short period of time. The love and Spirit of Christ were so present in all of our conversations and interactions. I am so blessed and excited to get to serve alongside all of the beautiful people of W squad!
Drop your expectations. Fo real. As we began the week, AIM staff told us to drop all expectations of what the race will look like. I came into training camp thinking I had no expectations and that I was completely flexible with whatever. Which was the case, that is until I found my expectations went unmet. Bottom line–surrender isn’t a one time thing, but a process. And the Lord deals with us very specifically and knows the secret things we might be holding on to.
Do all that you need to do to me, so you can do all you want to do through me- I want this to be my prayer for the next year…and for my life!
Mildew. If you pack your clothes away wet, they will stink.
I can pretty much sleep anywhere. Plane, tent, cement, bus.. with 50 other people.. overnight….But who are we kidding, I already knew this!
I’m coming away from training camp with a renewed vision for this journey–and I’m excited. Thank you to all who are supporting and coming alongside me, God is gonna do big things!
