There are three things I have done when experiencing spiritual warfare that have always defeated the enemy:
1.) Worship: The thing about worship is it gets your eyes and heart lifted up to God. What’s ministered to me is the 24/7 worship live web stream at The International House of Prayer (IHOP) where you might find one of my favorite musicians, Misty Edwards, lead worship. Worship is one of the most effective and quickest tools in defeating the enemy.
2.) Prayer: I take prayer serious. Did you know that prayer causes things to happen? Things that wouldn’t ordinarily happen can and do take place because of prayer. As James 5:16 states “The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” I’ve been able to pray for a couple of my squadmates before I actually meet them at training camp in July. It’s a blessing to see God answer some of the prayers.
3.) Reading the Word: God’s Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11) and is alive and active, sharper than any two-edge sword (Hebrews 4:12). I can never get too much of the Gospels. I want my life to resemble Jesus to the best that I can. Television has never helped me get to sleep so I’ll read the Word every night before falling asleep.
The spiritual battle is real but we have victory if we understand our position in Christ and use the tools (armor of God) described in Ephesians Chapter 6 vs. 13-18.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangly dim
In the light of His glory and grace
