The World Race is an intensive discipleship program which involves a six-step process:
1.) Abandonment
2.) Brokenness
3.) Dependence
4.) Empowerment
5.) Calling
6.) Confirmation
The first step, abandonment, is leaving behind the comfort and security of my career, friends, family, possessions, and things I once held onto as a privileged American. I pack what I can in a backpack for 11 months and live on as little as possible with a group of 40-50 other young people my age.
The second step, brokenness, is scary and painful yet absolutely necessary. It’s during this time of insecurity and questioning where I’ll no longer rely on someone else’s belief systems or experiences. This is a treacherous journey of faith towards God. Brokenness will lead me to find faith molded out of my own experiences.
The third step, dependence, is a nerve-racking time of complete dependency upon God. This new dependency and faith in God will serve me not only while on the World Race, but for the rest of my life.
The fourth step, empowerment, is experiencing God in ways I could have only dreamed of. It’s during the empowerment stage where God challenges me to believe and ask for more. Doing greater works talked about in John 14:12 becomes my goal.
The fifth step, calling, is where God meets me at the point of renewed faith. It’s at this stage where I’ll start to hear a whisper for God’s plan for my life. Perhaps I’ll sense God imparting a specific calling or focus. The goal of this time is to create an environment for God to speak about ministry.
The final step, confirmation, I’ll begin to see clarity to the calling on my life and see real-world applications.
I’m excited to see what God has in store for me and wanted to thank you for being alongside with me on this journey. Your prayers and financial support mean so much!
