Right now I am reading through a book called "Love Has a Face" by Michele Perry. The premise of the book is that Love (Jesus) has a face… and it is YOU. While we are on this earth, WE are ambassadors for Christ, and therefore ambassadors of His love.

So the question then becomes, what is love? What does love look like? We only need to look to the cross to find our answer.

Love is pure, selfless, and sacrificial. It seeks the best interest of others, requires complete surrender of the self, and never looks for anything in return.

Most of us are very familiar with John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life"

This scripture gives a beautiful picture of the magnitude of God's love for us.

But one of my favorite verses is 1 John 3:16 which, in light of John 3:16, gives us instruction about how WE are to respond. "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters"

I just love that. Because of HIS great love for us, we have the ability, privilege and honor of loving others with the SAME love that He has given us.

Let us fix our eyes on the cross, and strive to LIVE LOVED. Freely receive His great love, and seek opportunities each day to BE the face of Love to those around you.
