It’s been a month now since I’ve returned from my kingdom journey and it’s taken me a month to write this final blog.
It’s been an incredibly strange month trying to re-acclimate, find a job, get used to not having someone sitting next to you 24/7 (I find I get lonely if I’m left alone for more than 5 minutes now), and not having my World Race family near me anymore. But it’s so good, God is good, and there are amazing things that are happening on my horizon.
Here are some numbers I crunched from my year:
14: Countries visited
24: Buses
9: Trains
9: Vans
21: Planes
381: Hours spent on the road or air (this doesn’t count waiting in airports etc.)
22,860: Minutes spent traveling
1,371, 600: Seconds spent getting from one place to another
33: Number of books read
42: New best friends
I can’t even begin to think of a way to thank everyone who supported me on the wild venture. Because of your generosity and prayers I was able to meet the most beautiful people in the most colorful of cultures and got to witness many come to know Jesus.
I had adventures like those I could only have thought up in my wildest dreams.
I rode elephants through a Thai jungle, snuggled with a Siberian tiger, marveled at ancient sights like the Great Wall of China and Angkor Wat, drove on a safari through the savannahs of Africa, and jumped 288 feet off of the old World Cup stadium in South Africa.
I ate rat meat, tarantula, fried crickets, poisonous puffer fish, and chicken feet.
I worked in schools, homes, churches, orphanages and prisons.
I encountered hardships, I laughed, I cried, and I grew right alongside my 42 new brothers and sisters. And through it all I encountered a God who is still working miracles today and wants me to know Him personally.
Again, I can’t thank you enough for your support and prayers and for giving me a moment of your day to read my blog. This year would not have been possible if it hadn’t been for you, and I know that God has many more adventures in store for me.
This is not the end dear reader. No, this most certainly isn’t. You’ll be seeing plenty more of me and wherever I go you’ll find me wrecking this world for God’s kingdom.
