Hey everybody!!! I have a little fun fact of my life for everyone. When I was 13 I was diagnosed with a disease called osteonecrosis which deteriorated my left hip. I had my first hip surgery when I was 13 at Boston Children’s Hospital. A few years later when I was 18 I had a second surgery on my hip and on my pelvic bone. I had such an amazing experience with everything and everyone I met, 1 year after that I started volunteering at the hospital performing free haircuts for the patients, as I am a licensed barber. I did that for about a year until I moved to Africa. I absolutely LOVE Boston Children’s Hospital!! Their staff is amazing, always happy, nice, professional and fun. I loved volunteering there, the kids I met were so amazing!! They were always soo happy and SOO strong!!! These kids are so little and have no idea what is going on, but they always say, "It's ok, I'll have my surgery and be home soon to go to school wif my frands." I think the hardest part for me was when I had to go to the cancer wing. I had to shave the kids hair before they went through kemo so it wasn't as scary when their hair started to fall out. These little cute girls who wanted a short Miley Cyrus haircut, and they were so excited!!! Then the next week I had to come and shave it shorter and shorter, it broke my heart. Or the boys who always wanted a mo hawk!!!

Boston Children’s Hospital does a yearly charity walk sponsored by NSTAR. I have been participating in the walk for 3 years and this year will be the 4th!!! But wait Brian, aren't you on The World Race?! YES I am silly gooses!! But that still doesn't stop me from going above and beyond for the hospital that did so much for me through out the years. So YEAR 4!!! HERE I COME!!!! I have signed up as a virtual walker, so I still raise money and everything goes to the hospital, but I just won't be there on the day of the walk. Seeing that I will be in Uganda…that's a bit of a commute.

The walk is June 10th 2012 in Boston MA

Walk day is so much fun!! I get to hang out with all of my friends and co-workers from the hospital and walk 7 miles around the beautiful Charles River in Boston. Walking past Fenway Park, Boston University and the science museum. It is an amazing time and I'm going to miss it so much!!!

My goal for this year is $1,000. In total for the past 3 years I have raised over $3,500!!! I would love to add a big number to that this year!! I pray that soo much money flows in for this!! If God can provide me with $15,000 for the race, I know He can bring in $1,000 for all the kids Boston Children’s Hospital takes care of!!! The walk is in June, so I have 3 months to do this, but this month I am in Vietnam and can't use Facebook which is a HUGE way to communicate and spread this. So if while I'm here for the month if anybody can spread this where ever that would be amazing!!! Below is the link for my support page if you would like to donate or if you can re-post this blog, all the kids at the hospital and I would be so grateful!!!! Thank you soo much for reading and helping me raise support for Boston Children’s Hospital!!!!
