Buddy the Elf is JESUS!?
So Christmas is approaching here in Nicaragua (Happy Birfday Jesus!!!) And we decided to do what everyone does when they are in Nicaragua for Christmas, we watched the movie Elf!! But this time I saw it in a different way….and here is why. Please go along with this weird thought with me. Since accepting Christ a year ago, God has never left my mind, I think about Him 24/7, even when I watch Elf. So we were watching and I came to a strange conclusion, that Buddy the Elf….is kind of like Jesus in a way!? Stay with me…and Santa is kind of like God!? So here are some reasons why I came to that conclusion….
In the beginning of the movie the elves recite a “code of the elves” which says,
#1 Treat everyday like Christmas
Translated to me (treat everyday like the Resurrection)
#2 There is room for everyone on the nice list
(There is room for everyone in heaven)
#3 The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for everyone to hear
(The best way to spread the love of Jesus is to preach loud for everyone to hear)
Some other things are:
When Buddy is in the mall and the ‘fake’ Santa came in, Buddy knew right away that he wasn’t real.
(Same thing when people preach the wrong Gospel and misconstrue the words in the Bible)
Another is how dedicated Buddy is to Santa and how he KNOWS Santa is real and believes it with all his heart.
(Believers KNOW God is real and we believe it with all of our hearts)
Towards the end of the movie Santa’s sleigh wouldn’t fly because no one believed in him anymore. This took place in Central Park in NY. So Santa, Buddy, Buddies little brother, and his real dad were all in Central Park trying to get Santa’s sleigh going, all with cameras from news channels trying to catch a glimpse of Santa. (Sorry, if you have seen the movie you’ll know what I mean.) So Buddies little brother says to Santa, “Why don’t you just let the cameras in so everyone can see your real!?” Santa said, “If I did that it would defeat the point of believing and the Christmas spirit would be ruined!!”
My translation ( God, why can’t you show yourself to the world so everyone can see who you are and believe!?) God says (If I did that it would defeat the point of believing and the Holy Spirit would be ruined!!)
….you get where I’m going with this?!
All of this happening while the evil Park rangers on their horses are out to get Santa!!

So later in front of a crowd of people in front of news cameras, a girl remembers what, Buddy taught her, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear. So she did, she sang, ‘He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when your awake, he knows when you are bad or good….I’ll let you figure that one out.
So that girl represents US!! She is a disciple of Santa, just as we are disciples of God!! She sings for Santa, we preach for God!! So while she is standing on a pedicle singing, people start to listen, and eventually, people start to sing too.
(One person preaches, many listen, start to believe, and start preaching!!)
This goes on for a while, broadcast on the tv and soon the whole city starts to sing where ever they are!!
One more thing, Buddies real dad is a big tough book writing executive who doesn’t believe in Santa and moves his lips when everyone is singing, but isn’t singing.
(Bare with me, but I feel this represents men in general! Some guys are too tough, big strong men to believe in God and walk the walk, but don’t talk the talk and live the life Jesus wants us to live.)
So finally everything works out and at the end, Buddy writes a book that his dad publishes about his journey through New York City….anyone…IT’S THE BIBLE!!! More and more people read the story about Buddy and more believe in Santa.
(More and more people read the Bible and start to believe in God!!)
So yeah, sorry for this being so long, but this is what goes through my head when I watch Elf!!
Prayer requests: This is our last month in Central America!! So please pray for our hearts to be opened and ready for Asia and to leave Central America.
My next support deadline in AT THE END OF THE MONTH!!! And I still need $8,000 to be fully funded. So please tell your friends, family, neighbors, strangers if they could find it in their hearts to donate to my trip. The Lord is NOT ready for me to be sent home, I have more lives to change!!
Also (this is a big one) MY ONE YEAR OF ACCEPTING CHRIST IS DEC. 18th!!!! I don’t know what you can pray for me about, but it’s really cool!!
