Today was an amazing day!!! My team and I are staying and doing ministry with 1 other team from my squad this month, so the 3 other guys and I decided to have a mans day out. We started off with working out with our shirts off for an hour, ate 5 raw eggs then cooked steaks for breakfast…. NO I’m kidding. We just hung out with each other and walked around the city and found a soccer field and played with a Frisbee. This was suppose to be our day off, so we didn’t have anything major in mind. What God did next proves how much we DON’T know of what He has in store for us.
We were messing around with the Frisbee when I heard a guy say “My friend is having a heart attack and I’m going to get help” I immediately went over to his friend to see what was going on and to see if I could help. The man, who’s name was Tomas, was face down in the mud and barely breathing. We turned him on his side and didn’t know what to do next while we waited for an ambulance. The only thing the guys and I could do…is pray, so we did….and nothing happened. So while waiting, we started talking to his friend who spoke English. He was telling us about his life and his struggles. This mans name was George (aka Tiko).
He told us that he is an alcoholic, and openly admitted to us that he was under the influence of drugs. He also told us of what he does for the community. He told us that he was known for helping people and was well respected in the community. We saw his heart straight away. After talking to him for a while we prayed over him as well. While we were praying a miracle happened. Tomas woke up, is eyes opened and he started to move. We were shocked. The ambulance never came, so I took matters into my own hands. The ‘hospital’ was literally 200 feet away and no one came to help this man. So I went over, walked in and told them I was going to take this hand stretcher and I’ll be right back!!! I ran to Tomas and we put him on it and carried him to the hospital. You gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes!!!
We wanted to thank Tiko and his friend William for their help, so we took them to get some food. While at lunch we talked to Tiko about Christ and spread the Gospel with him. We talked about his past life and the sins that he committed and the sins that he commits everyday. We than talked about how, through Christ, those things don’t have to become him anymore. After a long talk, Tiko told us that he wants a better life and he wants a relationship with Christ. We invited Tiko and William to come to church with us Sunday morning, I’ll let you know if he does……Please pray that he does……..
UPDATE!! Tiko came to church with us!!! We told him to meet us at 8 am, AND HE DID!! He also brought 2 of his friends with him as well. When I saw them standing there waiting for us my heart was PUMPING with joy!!! I was so happy to see him willing to go to church and wanting to learn more about Christ!!
Prayer requests:
Please pray for the health of Tomas and that he stops drinking everyday and for his eyes to be opened to the Lord
Pray for Tiko and his friend William. Pray for their hearts to be opened, for God to give them new eyes to the world, for Tiko drug and alcohol addictions to be no more, and for both of them to attend church with us.
Also, my next financial deadline of $10,500 is coming up and I would LOVE to keep continuing traveling the world to spread the word!! Please find it in your heart to donate anything you can spare.
