I wanted to write this because I tell everyone to go to my website to read more about my trip, but it doesn’t tell exactly what I will be doing!!  Lol  So here is what The World Race is…

The World Race is first and foremost, a mission trip.  I will be traveling the world with 60 squad mates broken down into teams of 7 preaching the Gospel and spreading Gods love.  Whether it’s with our words and Bible studies, or by our actions with helping with orphanages, the homeless, or building churches and houses.  It’s 11 months of trying to make a positive difference in the world!!  I believe that God put me on this planet to do just that.  One of the biggest things that some people may be confused about, Brian…. Since WHEN are you Christian!!!  I KNOW!!  This is all very sudden, but when I lived in Africa, God came into my life in a big way and changed me totally.  I now live my life for HIM!!  My name is Brian Cooke, and I am a Christian missionary!!  If you thought you knew me, you need to get to know me ALL OVER AGAIN!!  Because I am a new person!!  I would love to talk to anyone if they have any questions about the NEW me.

A lot of people ask me, ‘Why do you travel abroad when there is so much to do here in the States?’  YES there is a lot to do, I won’t argue with anyone on that, but I feel that God is calling me abroad for some reason.  The rest of the world doesn’t have the options, opportunities and amazing gifts that we as Americans take for granted!!  I want to go to third world countries and give those people those opportunities and show them that there is more to their lives!!

For the whole 11 months we will be, for the most part, sleeping in tents where our Christian contacts are.  Or we might stay in hostels or in churches if available.  We will have a set food allowance everyday to live off of and limited internet access from country to country.  In other words, WE ARE RUFFIN IT!! We are going to smell and not shower and it’s going to be amazing!!!

For traveling, we will fly from continent to continent, but take local transport within that continent from country to country.  I love all the different styles of transport there are through out the world!!  From mini busses and bicycle taxis in Malawi, to tuck tuck and long boats in Thailand.  Some are just plain funny!!  But it’s all about getting to one place from another.

What we do each month is up to the contacts that we stay with in each country.  They usually have a certain area of missioning that they want to teach us more about and help them with.  Whether it staying at and helping an orphanage in Africa, or learning about and helping to prevent human trafficking in Asia.
My support account!!!  In total, I need $15,000 to be fully funded.  This covers all my day to day living and traveling.  I need certain portions of the total amount in my account by certain dates to continue on with the race, if not, I go home.  The dates are broken down as follows…

  • $3,000 – Due 6/18/2011 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
  • $6,000 – Due 9/17/2011 (2 weeks prior to your trip)
  • $10,500 – Due 1/1/2012 (End of 3 months on the field)
  • $15,000 – Total Due 4/1/2012 (End of 6 months on the field)

Fundraising is off to a slow start right now, but I know God will provide for me like he always does, and I will just keep my faith in Him for what is needed to spread His love around the world.

I am sure I’m missing a bunch of information about it, but if you have any questions please email me and ask!!  Thanks for reading!!!
