What's up everyone!!!!

My name is Brian and I am from Sandwich MA.  Born and raised on good 'ol Cape Cod.  I think it's weird writing about myself…so I'll make everything short and sweet and give you the highlights.  When I was 18 I moved to Boston on my own for a year to explore the city life.  I lived 100 ft. from Fenway Pahk!!!  It was insane!!  Living and loving the Red Sox life all day everyday!!!  I Love that city.  While living there I started to volunteer once a week at Boston Children’s Hospital giving free haircuts to the patients, as I am a barber.  I LOVED going there and helping those kids!!  I was a patient at Children’s Hospital when I was younger and it was my way to give back.  I have also done the NSTAR Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital for the past 3 consecutive years and have risen over $3,500 for the hospital.

My next adventure was my first Habitat for Humanity trip when I was 20 to Lilongwe Malawi, Africa.  The trip was 2 weeks long and changed my life!!  The people were amazing, Malawi is amazing, the host family was amazing, and the life lessons I learned from it were indescribable!!  That trip was perfect!!  I spent 2 weeks building a house with 12 people from around the country and Canada, for a well deserving family who were living in a non suitable house and who have applied and had been approved to receive a new house.  It was an amazing adventure!!!  First time to Africa, first time traveling on my own, I was a big boy now!!!  Here are my team mates and the family…

Shortly after returning home to the states I was offered a job at the hotel that we as a team stayed at while we were building our Habitat house!!!  It was such an amazing opportunity I couldn't pass it up!!!  So I packed my things and I MOVED TO AFRICA!!!  lol  A bit spontaneous and crazy, but that's ME!!!  So I started my new life as a manager of a backpacker’s hotel in Malawi Africa!!!  The time I spent there was crazy/amazing/hectic/happy/sad everything!!  I met so many amazing people from around the world that are some of the best people I have ever met!!  Most of them were volunteers working on many projects around the area that I loved to go and visit every once in a while to see what they were doing.  It was so amazing to see the amazing things these people were doing while they were there.  I fell in LOVE with everything about that country!!  I love the locals, the weather, scenery, lake, trees, bugs, animals EVERYTHING!!!  My heart is and always will be in Malawi 🙂

…..And that was all before I accepted Jesus…

While I was in Malawi I came across a group of American Christian missionaries….wonder who that could be…yes, The World Race P squad!!!  They came to stay at my hotel for 6 month debrief.  I got to know most of them very well and formed very good friendships with them.  I had never been religious, but I was open to hear what they had to say.  Turns out, I was listening pretty good!!!  And my life changed for ever a few weeks later!!  God came into my life and I accepted him with open arms!!  I’ll get into all the details in another post, but I have been so happy ever since and want more people to feel what I feel. Here is just some ofthe sqaud that changed my life…

Since leaving Malawi, I traveled to Thailand where I participated in my second Habitat for Humanity trip in Chaing Mai.  This trip was completely different from my first in Malawi, but was so amazing and I loved every second of it!!  Here is my team and the house we built…

After spending a month in Thailand I traveled to Sydney Australia to visit a friend and travel for a bit.  After traveling the world for 9 months it was time to go home.  And that’s where I am now, home sweet home, back to work and trying to spread Gods love to my friends and family.
