‘He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them
authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.’ Matthew 10:1 (NIV)
There is no question about if the spiritual realm exists beyond
what we can see. It is there weather or not we want to believe it. There was
not denying it last night.
Half of our team went to a cell group. The family that was
hosting the cell group invited us to join them and lead the study for the
evening.
After the Bible study the host couple asked if we would pray
for their family and their home. The wife had recently converted from Hinduism
to Christianity last year and has been manifesting something from when she used
to worship idols as a Hindu. You did not misread that last sentence. Something
manifests within her and it keeps her from being able to pray most days and it
tortures her.
I asked our interpreter if we could lay hands on the family
to pray for them. He said it was alright. We went over to the family to pray for
them and I asked the wife if I could hold her hands while I prayed for her. She
reached them out towards me and as soon as I touched them, a demon manifested
within her. Call it what you may, it was a demon.
It made her face contorted, her eyes bulged outward and she
forcefully stuck her tongue out stiffly. It hurled her forward into a hunched
position while her arms started swinging violently at her sides. This was not
the quiet woman that greeted us when we entered her home. She was not in
control of her own body, the demon was. Her husband had to restrain her at one
point, so she didn’t harm herself or others.
We all prayed truth over her, and the Holy Spirit fought
for her freedom. Together, we prayed in English, Malay and in prayer tongues.
Everyone in that room was praying for her freedom in Christ. God poured light
over the darkness that had been holding her captive for far to long. As we
prayed she calmed and slowly sank down to the floor with tears flowing from her
eyes, and she became quiet and still once again. We asked her if she was now
able to pray over herself and she immediately began praying over herself in her
native tongue like never before.
Afterwards she spoke to us about how hard she’s been
fighting what was inside of her. She wakes up every morning at 4am, when her
Hindu neighbors loudly play their prayer chants, and she prays to God until 7am when
she goes to work and again from 10pm to 12 pm.
Our interpreter told Brian on the way home that she told him
she felt she was healed.
To God be the Glory! He sets the captives FREE!
