On a Journey with God in New
Zealand…

Month one we had an amazing experience completely in our
element heading into the bush for 16 days of tramping (hiking) doing an
Evangelism Backpacking Ministry for the month!

The rest of our team was way outside their comfort zones, backpacking
and camping for the first time in their lives. So the journey began ministering
to each other and preparing us for what the Lord had in store for this year.  It was a month of growth in so many
ways. Simplicity is such a beautiful thing, strip away all of the comforts of
everyday life and live in nature with just necessities and it’s difficult not
to feel God’s presence.

Our journey through life is so like the terrain we were
traveling across. We stumble down steep valleys only to get to the bottom and
wallow in the muck and thrash through the wetlands and trudge through the sand
dunes for awhile before making the difficult trek back up…but oh how beautiful
it is to reach the top and see God’s glory surrounding us, making us whole.

Yes our journey began with brokenness as we hiked up, up, up
with 40-pound packs on our backs full of what we ‘need’ in life. But after
brokenness comes redemption healing and freedom! By stripping away all of the
excess, we made more room for God, more room for relationships, more room for
growth. Oh how we all grew in New Zealand. God is always there, you just have
to take the time to seek Him and receive all that he is waiting to give you.

At the summit of our journey we were blessed to stay at a
Christian Camp where a  Jr. Surf
Competition was being held. The French and Tahitian teams were staying at the
camp with us where we had opportunities to minister and serve them. In the four
days we were there we came to know the staff at the camp as family who were
more than a blessing than they could possibly imagine. God answered so many
prayers for all of us in our brief time there.
We got to
dive deep into an intimate relationship with God… and with our teammates. The
journey has only just begun and yet it already seams like we’ve come so far.
