As most of you know.. I was accepted into the race SIX days ago. I leave in 67 days. 67 days sounds like a lot, but when you are literally starting from ground zero that's not much time to get a passport, get my vaccinations, set up health insurance, buy all the equipment, and so on.. (Not that I'm at all complaining.. it honestly makes it that much more exciting!)
But.. in order to get everything done I had to cut hours at my evening job. I nanny for a family in the morning, and in the evenings I work at a daycare as a teacher in our 3 year old rooms. In case you didn't get the hint.. I LOVE KIDS! So yesterday and today I passed out letters explaining my trip, and why I wouldn't be working there as much. It was a sad day saying goodbye to some of my kids.. but oh the joy!! The extra hugs, the I'll miss yous, and one special gift. A beautiful bracelet I will cherish forever!
Side note: If you have kids, or even know someone who works with kids, tell them how much you appreciate them! Coming from someone who does.. it's not something we hear often.. but when you do it's one of the best feelings in the world!
It's so nice to feel appreciated, but more than anything nothing compares to my families sending me off with such loving words of encouragement. In such a short time I have become so close to those kids and their families. And this makes me so excited to get on the field. Oh what a simple smile, hug, or short story can do to brighten a child's life. If I do nothing more than make one person feel loved.. that's ok with me! But I have a feeling God has much more in store for me.. ![]()
God is so great, and can do mighty things! I can't wait to see what He can do in my life in 11 months on the mission field!
Much love,
Bri Legan
