Hmmm…baby dedication…what does that mean? Well, most
families do this to their child when their child is very young in a church.
They are dedicating their baby to God. Now, what does that mean? Is it just
“the thing to do” or are parents really dedicating their child to God?

Well believe it or not, my dad and mom dedicated me to God a
little while after I was born. Little did they know, God took them seriously. Look,
I’m here on the World Race.

When I came back from Audio Adrenaline’s Hands and Feet
Project in Haiti, I told my dad about
the World Race and that I was praying to see if I should do it. It was amazing
what my dad did next: at the church prayer meeting that night, my dad gave me
over to God, allowing God to do whatever He wanted to with me. Now that doesn’t
mean that I’m not his son anymore, it just means that he isn’t going to hold me
back from what God might want me to do. Also, it meant that my dad was not
going to hold onto me and keep me near him. He gave me back to God. It was like
a “re-baby dedication.”

So, for parents that are going to have children soon or
already have children: BABY DEDICATION is for real.
Don’t just do it because it is “the normal thing to do.” God is going to take
you seriously. He might call you child, your little baby, to leave the house
and go somewhere someday…maybe even somewhere not safe [according to you, but
if you trust and have faith that God will protect them…then there is no place
where it is not safe for them.]
