I tailgated 10 feet behind a truck for 40 STRAIGHT minutes.
I’m a jerk, I know. I’ll explain later, because that happened in the last 12
hours of El Salvador.
Here is a summary of El Salvador:
We lived in the pastors house. It was him and his wife, his son how was around
15 and daughter how was around 9. Also, their grandmother lived with them,
because her husband lives in the states and she cannot get a VISA to get back
in. it’s sad. Also there was a guy, Nelson, who was sorta learning under the
pastor, it was pretty cool.
The house was nice ๐ Joel and I slept under a pouch/awning
sort of thing in our hammocks, it was nice! The food was amazing too! The
grandmother and mom were great cooks!
We had a slow start to things, but one day we were prayer
walking and went to a big hill that overlooked some of the city and we sang,
declared things out to God, praised His name…AND THEN the next day God started
doing some amazing things at our house visits! Healings happened, people’s hearts changed, people were encouraged,
and relationships were built! It was great! I wrote a blog a few days ago about
door-to-door ministry.
Also, one week we did an outreach to a random village. I
wrote a blog about that too! I was with “Master’s Commission” for the week and
we did different activities and outreach events for the whole village! It was
nice! I got to entertain the children with this blue puppet [pic below]

and also got to have a great conversation with this one man
that lived in the states for a few years! It was really good! And also, we got
to share the love of Jesus and yeah, it was really good! We did a soccer
tournament one day, a children’s event day, a break dance competition, a movie
night, and a dance/drama day. It was really cool how master’s commission set it
all up ๐ we also had a youth retreat with them and I got so speak! That was
fun! i wanted to preach from the van…haha

Yeah, it was a nice month! It was fun building relationships
and I just wish I was able to speak fluent Spanish, because then I would be all
over the place. The language barrier holds me back a lot.
One word: pupusa
[tortilla with beans and cheese in the middle]
I guess that is a pretty good update. God grew me a LOT!
I’im breaking free from being a ‘people pleaser’ and I’m speaking out when God
tells me to…it’s SUPER hard for me though. FREEDOM ๐
Oh yeah, so tailgating. This blog is getting long so I’ll
keep it short: we were in our van and the pastor was driving and our car broke
down. So a truck comes to pick us up. AND tow the van :/ so I was fine, laying
in the back of the van, but the pastor felt sick, so I drove the van…10 feet
behind the truck for 40 min. the rope broke TWO times! It was probably one of
the most stressful times of my life. It was dark, 4-way blinkers were flashing
in my eyes, the van had horrible brakes, bad steering, there were random
caution cones in the middle of the road (which means swerving was
necessary…ugh)…so it was very stressful, BUT God guided us home safely and gave
me peace. It was great! I don’t know what I would do without Him by my side!!
That’s mainly what happened. I don’t know what else to write
about…God has really been speaking to me and showing me new stuff, which has
been REALLY GOOD and refreshing! Oh, our team also loves to play DUTCH BLITZ!
Towamencin Mennonite Church, we need your HUMAN DUTCH BLITZ!!
What else…hmmmm…let me think….
Oh I made the
newspaper for mothers’ day! Ok so we were at the mall for Katie (my teammate’s)
birthday. (which is the same day as mothers’ in Central America) and they had a
booth set up to take video’s of people saying happy mothers’ day and then they
would put it on the internet. So we did it! And the next day we were in the
paper!

Translation of the caption of the picture:
“Some foreign tourists also took advantage
[of the camera crew/interview opportunity] to send their greetings to other
parts of the world. They were so overjoyed that they dedicated a spontaneous
song with a special greeting.”
Said “spontaneous song” was nothing more
than Brent and Joel singing “Happy Mother’s Day to you” to the tune
of Happy Birthday…but don’t tell the excited crowd of onlookers.
Ok, wow…now that I’m looking through pictures on facebook…there
is so much more that happened…oh well…this blog is too long. If you want to
know more: go on facebook! haha
