So launch was amazing! We had sessions about how this trip
is going to humble us and make us dependent on the Lord. It was also amazing to
see our whole squad again! I missed them soooo much!

We got our placement and we are
in the AIM headquarters in the DR and we are with 3 other teams from our squad!
The AIM headquarters is in San Juan and owned by the Supreme Court Justice of
the DR…wow, I feel safe.
So we are placed with an AMAZING man of God named, Miguel,
who is our contact for the whole month and is a pastor from Nebraska and has
been in the DR for the past 6 years. Today (Jan. 12) was our first official day of
ministry. We are going to go to 4 different villages for 3-4 days each. In each
village we will:
Day 1- prayer walk and ask for prayer request from villagers
Day 2- build relationships with people from Day 1 and build new relationships
also be more purposeful to
find people that are interested in making a church plan in that village
Day 3- Minister/preach/evangelize/children’s ministry
Day 4- a combination of the past 3 days!
This is going to be so exciting! Our title is “Advance team”
to pave the way for a church plant team to come in and do their job! Another way
of putting it, “we are sowing the ground,” meaning we will not see much fruit,
but we know that God’s Word does not come back void. I’m excited to find out
what happens at these four villages after we leave. Oh, and every single family
that we talk to is extremely HOSPITABLE! It is so encouraging and I pray that I
will be as hospitable as these people someday…
I could talk forever (as you know) but yeah we are here. Quick
wrap up: San Juan is very peaceful and lovely. We are living in a small two
story building and I am sleeping outside in my hammock (thanks Natalie Swartzendruber for that genius idea!) we
have bathrooms and electricity, so it is amazing! There is a place called “Pollo
Rey” which has free wi-fi, so that is why I am putting up soooo manyyy updates!
