This month, I am staying in Kabuga, Rwanda with seven other awesome men of God. We are enjoying life and manly talks together. It has been a month of letting go all of the air bubbles that we have kept in our stomachs while being around the girls, if you know what I mean. The aroma in the air stinks so good.  It has been of month of learning from one another. It has been a month of “bromancing”. We quickly found out who the guy couples are. This is a month that I will never forget.

A typical day for us starts with a 6:45am Bible study before we get to be the mighty Spartan teachers. We are studying the book of John. We are digging in the word to make us better men. Lately, we have been getting pumped for teaching with some Katie Perry “Roar”. Yeah, we are very manly.

Off to school we go! We are teaching kids from the ages 5-8 years old. This has been a interesting experience. Teaching kids has its challenges especially when their first language is not English. One of the hardest things is teaching the kids to write the abc’s correctly. The most common mistake is writing the letter “C”. Their “C” looks more like this ). After showing a kid about five times the correct way it starts to get a bit frustrating. But overall it has been fun at the school. Everyday I smile from something one of the kids does.

After school, we go home and chill out after a tough day of teaching. This is when I check out of reality with Jonathon and whoever else that to watch an episode or two, ok, maybe three of Suits. This has become one of the thrills. We walk around the house quoting Suits lingo. If we are not watching Suits, we are doing some settling. This is a board game called Settlers of Catan.

This is what a day look likes for us. It is kind of slow as far as ministry goes, but we have enjoyed the estrogen free zone.  We hang out and enjoy each other’s company. We pour into each other and talk about life. I know each one of these men are going to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth in some sort of way. We call ourselves Spartans and we have embraced the name.
