We are coming to an end of our second week here in Costa Rica. My team of six are living in Los Guido, a very poor and dangerous slum. We are partnering with Christian Light Foundation. Which is a local feeding center whose main focus is providing a safe place for the kids to come and be discipled and poured into, as well as receive a warm meal.
My team is staying in a gym, we have a kitchen available to us to cook our meals. We have a bathroom with several showers and running water, frigid water. The gym/ feeding center is located on a two acre property along with a local church called New Life Church.
The church just celebrated its 10 year anniversary! They celebrated after church with a party, with piñatas! It was fun to see the excitement of all the church members.
Our main ministry this month is working in a school here in Los Guido, working with three of the English teachers and helping in the classrooms. It’s amazing to see the connections made already with these students even after only one week in the school. And to see them show up at the feeding center after we invite them and they ask for us by name.
We also get to participate with the youth group on Fridays, and kids club on Saturday mornings!
This past weekend I had the incredible opportunity to visit ZOE church and school. This is where I spent last summer serving. Another team from my squad is currently there, so they graciously let us stay with them for the night. It was so sweet to see my dear friends again!
I am so excited to see what else the Lord has in store for the rest of our time here in Costa Rica!
Your continued prayers would be appreciated. For our safety, for the kids we are working with here, our physical and spiritual health. The devil definitely does not like what we are doing here in Los Guido, we can tell he is attacking our team.
As far as fundraising goes, I need to meet my next deadline of $13,000 by the end of November. I am just over $1,000 away. I know that this is exactly where God is calling me, and that He always provides. So please pray and ask God if He is nudging you to partner with me financially.
