I couldn’t believe the views when we crossed over the border. SNOW! I hadn’t seen snow since … pretty much last January. We are now in Argentinian wine country, in the “boondocks”, if you will, with another team. It is GORGEOUS out here. Vineyards, farms, and gardens as far as the eye can see. We work at a hostel with Christian caretakers, cleaning up the grounds, cooking, and ministering with a local Pentecostal church. In fact, we are helping with a women’s retreat tomorrow at the church. I am going to cook some chocolate zucchini bread in the morning (zapallo is used for both pumpkin and zucchini in Argentina) and some of us finished the decorations tonight. The other day, we went to a harvest party and played some music. We are also helping to design some signs, drawing, and curricula to equip Bible teachers and youth students.

This hostel. It’s GORGEOUS. We have a little kitten and two dogs with whom we play. We interact with the family on a regular basis. There are olive trees on all their acreage – I had to climb on the roof the other day to pick some. And roses on the fence line. It is so peaceful and wide open. They also have a pool – but I have been sick and it has not been very hot to play in it. Some people have taken the plunge, however.

19 days until I get home. If I am not completely torn asunder by terror and excitement, it will be a miracle.

Random thought: I asked in Chile if they put pumpkin spice in their Starbucks down here. They said no and looked at me like I was crazy. Save me some holiday coffee, stateside!
