Friday April 23, 2010 saw our RAHAB
event for the girls from the clubs and the street kick off about 1:30
pm. We were expecting close to 50 girls, and though only about 15-20
came we still had a great time. There were different tables, or
stations, where the girls were able to make masks that depicted what
they wanted others to see them as, make flowers out of pipe cleaners
and tissue paper, paint or draw on large piece of fabric to create a
mural, and get their fingernails painted. Our lovely contact was a
little frazzled as the girls were taking nearly all their time at the
masks table and at the mural and not really doing anything else, but
we were able to show her that God was accomplishing His purpose.

It was on our agenda to give a series
of small talks throughout the event, and we all had our topics and
times set up. God, however, had different plans. Monica wasn’t able
to share her testimony and message until about 2:30, and then Rebecca
didn’t share till 3:30. Both of them were good and led the girls to
think about a lot of things. I was beginning to think that we’d
really be pushing it if I tried to give my talk before 4 when one of
the ladies there volunteering stood up and began to share her
testimony. She talked to the girls and really related to them because
of her own background. She shared later that this was the first time
in years that she had given her testimony because the last time she
had been ostracized by the group with which she shared. Anyway, as
she continued on we were filled in a little about what she was
sharing, as it was in Tagalog or Ilakano, and then she led all of the
girls in a prayer of forgiveness for the people who had betrayed them
in the past, and then she asked them to kneel if they wanted to
receive Jesus. Praise be to God!! There were about 12 of the girls
who knelt and prayed and we had a few volunteers there to have
conversations with them and make a connection to begin the
discipleship process. Needless to say, I didn’t give my talk, but God is good and His plan and purpose prevailed! Amen.

This was really a huge finale to our
ministry for the month of April and after that we spent a couple days
relaxing before we headed back to Thailand en-route to Cambodia. We
really missed Priscilla our last week in the Philippines, but she
needed to be with her family and we were happily reunited in Bangkok!
It was also her idea to have the mural at RAHAB and that turned out
to be a big hit! Praise be to God for all His almighty-ness in making
this event a success and for bringing the girls who needed to be
there!!
