From the beginning of this journey my team and I have often prayed that the Holy Spirit would interrupt us. We have prayed that no matter what we may be doing through out the day that when the Holy Spirit prompts us we will stop what were doing and follow his leading. God has answered our prayers and he has been interrupting our plans to bring forth his plan and bring heaven to earth.
We have been in Burma for 6 days now and God has been moving mightily in this place, but last night the Holy Spirit decided to interrupt us to bring forth his plan for the next day. We were in a team meeting and listening to a testimony when 2 young men that worked at the hotel came over and asked if they could sit with us. Lets call them Henry and Paul for the sake of privacy and safety. Paul spoke pretty good English and asked us if we were Christian. We said yes and he then proceeded to tell us he was Buddhist, but Henry was Christian. Henry had such a huge smile on his face and was wearing a big t-shirt that said Jesus on the front and back. Henry then had his friend translate for us and invited us to church. Of course we agreed and asked Paul to come as well, but sadly he had to work the next day. The Holy Spirit totally interrupted us and I am so thankful because he was about to open a huge door of insight into the nation of Burma.
The next morning we all got ready and met Henry. We rode in a motor cycle truck (tuk tuk) and drove down to the church. It was less than a mile from our hotel in a two story house and as we pulled up we could hear children singing to God with all their hearts. As we walked into the house we were greeted by the pastor and asked to sit down. We’ll call the pastor John, well John was one of those rare people you meet that carries the glory of God in a tangible way. The presence and peace of God on him was so strong and very evident. He asked us to sit down and then asked us where we were from and what our names were. We then asked him for his testimony as well as Henry’s. John used to be a Muslim and said God showed him that Jesus was the only way, truth and the life. He said he had the revelation that none of his good works could get him to heaven it was only through Jesus that he could be saved! Hallelujah! Henry then gave his testimony and said that he used to be Buddhist, but got saved at his hotel. A missionary came to his hotel and gave him a bible and told him about Jesus! Selah! Let me just brag on Henry for a second, this kid is 21 years old and is so in love with Jesus. He has such a humble spirit and I believe that God wants to use him mightily to change this nation. He comes from a very poor family and is a very hard worker. After our introductions we went up stairs to go to church. Let me just pause here for a sec a brag on God, I mean What???!!! His goodness just doesn’t stop and his love never fails! Thank you for interrupting us Lord thank you that your plans a better than ours ever could be.
As we begin to worship my heart begins to beat a little bit faster and hot tears hit my eyes. The Holy Spirit enters the room and I can feel the hearts of these beautiful sons and daughters all around me. I am humbled, I am honored and honestly my mind is blown. John 4:23 says ” yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” As we worship they begin to cry out to God with exaltation and intercession. Most of then pray in other tongues and worship our father freely with no shame or fear of man. It was a beautiful sight to behold, I felt God so strong in that place. I felt his joy over his sons and daughters I felt his love for Burma and its people. I did not know weather to sit, kneel or just cry so I did a little bit of everything. My perspective was changed in a moment and I want it to stay this way forever.
After reading about Burma never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would find a spirit filled church in this country. This small church of about 16 people carried more of God than most churches I’ve ever walked into. My thinking has been to small, I have had a wrong mind set. I thought we were going into Burma to bring God to this nation, but they brought God to us in this small church. Their are very few Christians in this country and Burma is so hungry for hope and for good news. The Holy Spirit decided to interrupt us that night to show us he is already at work in Burma. He chose this small church and others christian churches around it to spread the Gospel like wild fire. He was gracious enough to invite us into his plans for Burma, he is fanning the flame and working hard to win back the people for whom he died. He is raising up young men like Henry to bring change to this nation. This church is bringing light to a generation that will soon bring change to the whole nation.
I am humbled, I am broken under the goodness of God. He is moving more quickly than I could have ever imagined and bringing forth fruit quickly. He loves these people and he died for them, he deserves the reward of his suffering and he is fighting for those that he died for.
Please pray God will continue to fan the flame in this church and that he will protect them. Pray for Burma, pray that the Buddhist, Hindu and Muslims temples would become churches and that Jesus Christ would be known in this place. Please pray for my team as we go out and preach the gospel and go into orphanages and the hospital. Pray that God would bring healing and soften hearts to hear the Gospel. Thank you for you continual support it means the world to me.
