I woke up this morning to a stunning mountain view and a crisp gulp of mountain air I may never get used to. We drove 6 hours through the night over mountain passes and through vast grassy valleys to get to our new home, Mokhotlong, situated on the foothills of the windswept Drakensburg Mountains. The brightest light that night was the stars, entirely untouched by light pollution. There we could see the Milky Way streak across the sky and even a few distant galaxies unique to the Southern Hemisphere. Im certainly going to take advantage of my front seat view of the universe.

On our journey from the capital city to Mokhotlong, we came upon a semi truck that had flipped on its side as it was turning on a switchback. The driver was alright, but he was basically stranded for 10 hours and found refuge with a parked semi that was behind it. The wreckage was blocking the entire road and our van had to eek by on the side of the road to get by.

Lesotho (pronounced Le-sue-too) is a country straight out of a fairy tale. Known as “The Kingdom in the Sky,” it literally has a king and it’s a normal thing to see people wearing their traditional blanket cloaks. This morning I observed the not too uncommon man on horseback and passersby wearing some pretty cool straw cone hats. How did I end up here?!
The people here are the most friendly people I’ve ever met, and I’ve met many nice folks. Everybody seems to not worry and take life as it comes. They have this contagious atmosphere of calmness that I feel myself relax by just being around them. The hospitable women who work on the property with us almost instantly became family.
Our ministry has a rad setup here in the mountains: prison and hospital visits, preaching at churches, door to door prayer and evangelism, feeding the hungry, and construction, as well as more! Pretty much we get to do the stuff Jesus straightforwardly tells His followers to do in the Bible.
This time will require a special dependence on God for boldness, words to speak, and radical love to pour out on this town. I’m ultra stoked to see what happens as we take those oftentimes awkward or unsure steps of obedience! Please join with me in prayer for these next few months that we will be filled with the Holy Spirit’s boldness and that we will be given all the wisdom and words to pour the love of God to people. Also, join my in asking Jesus His specific will for us being here and that we walk in it. Jesus is gonna move and rock this place and we are gonna be rocked ourselves. All I can expact is some grand transformation and stories from doing life with all the dudes!
