Why do we have such a strong need to stick to the word as written?
Wouldn’t it be ok if we wavered just a little bit to fit situations? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! We must uphold the word as written at all times, it is never ok to go against what is written. “Why though, it’s not like I’m taking any glory away from God with it. So what’s the big problem?”  It’s a huge problem, when you open the door just a little for Satan to come in and change our mind about scripture he will come bursting through that cracked door. Now every time that I have a revelation about something like this I always have an example (look at you loyal blog readers, learning about me) look at the old testament, when we see the nation of Israel worshiping Baal how do you think they got there? Do you think when Moses went up to receive the ten commandments that as soon as he left they just dropped Jehovah and worshipped Baal?
It just doesn’t make sense to think that would happen. It had to start somewhere and it likely started with some “harmless” changes and thoughts just a cracked door that Satan was able to come bursting through. Then from little changes comes a big diversion that would lead to Baal. Not having a fully written word of God made it easy for the Israelites to fall off track with God. They had to completely rely on his Spirit leading them. They didn’t have much to test the movements of the spirit against. Tat made it easier for them to fall off in the wrong direction.
Knowing how weak we are as men God gave us something to help us. Knowing that Satan is out to push us away from him, he gave us something. That thing that he gave us is his word. He gave us scripture, he gave us his word that is TRUTH. Feeling lead by the Spirit? Good! Be lead by the Spirit, that’s a good thing. Just don’t always blindly believe that it’s the Spirit. Do as you were commanded and put it up against scripture, see if it holds up against Gods word. If it doesn’t go against Gods word then you’re all good. However, and that’s a BIG however, if it does go against Gods word you can trust and be confident that it isn’t from God.
We received a warning that the wolves will come dressed in sheep’s clothing. Just because we aren’t doing the direct work of Satan we are still aiding him big time every time we go against what the word says. God will never tell us to neglect his word, EVER! So be leery in just accepting what you feel the spirit is leading you in. Test it against sound doctrine and be sure that it is the Spirit that leads you.Â
