Ok I get it! My blog titles are usually a little strange but hey, they're catchy!
Have you ever been laying in bed at night unable to fall asleep, and you're just laying there with an uneasy feeling. Like something is wrong but you just cant figure it out. For me, when it comes to sleeping, I'm a natural. Really, I am. I can usually lay my head down and in what feels like seconds I'm out cold. But tonight, ohh, tonight. I am actually having trouble putting into words what I was feeling there. Unsure if it was God putting something on my heart, or if was spiritual warfare going on in my very own room. So I did what I know, I prayed, I asked God for help. Still feeling a bit off I got a hold of my girlfriend(which I'm sure she is thrilled about, being that it was 2am) and we prayed together. Then after that is when it this gets a little bit weird, I laid my head down yet again trying to just be at peace and go to sleep. As soon as i close my eyes all saw was this big silver skull with red glowing eyes. Creepy? YOU BETCHA!! At this point my eyes shot open, I sat up in bed verbally rebuking what ever was going on calling out the name of Jesus, and that in him I am untouchable to anything trying to harm me. I called out loud that I AM filled with the Holy Spirit and that means that there is no spiritual battle I cant win. Right as I was doing this I just felt a sudden calm come over me and my whole room. At this point I looked down to my bedside to see one of my flip flops, which isn't at all weird knowing that my bedroom is in the basement. That flip flop is sitting there for one purpose, to smash any bugs that feel bold enough to come onto my turf. As i sit there, just blankly looking at my flip flop, I began to think. When I see a bug walking across my bed, nightstand, or even on the other side of the room I jump up grabbing my stylish summer war club and enter into battle. I call it battle but what chance does this little spider walking along have? The little guy has no chance at all. When thinking of all that, two things come to mind. The first of the two is that this is a great way to view the war between satan and God. Satan may be running across the room but God is already swinging that flip flop down on him to smash him. I mean come on, you had to kind of see that analogy coming, right? Well, here is the second of the two that you might not have seen coming. Who am I in this next analogy? All of us! And that spider? Its our sin. Yeah we can look at the spider and let him keep walking. However, it walks out that door then boom all of a sudden there are dozens of baby spiders running all over the place. My application? Think of that one sin that you do some what often. Now, think about how you sometimes just let it slip on by. For example, gossip, you hear that juicy story. Now you just have to tell your friend. Somehow it gets back to the person the story was about. Now think about all the other sins that are caused by that one piece of gossip, all the other sins that are running around now causing more sins. It kind of sounds like a little dark spiral. Which all got going because you refused to squash that the spider running across your room to start with.
So I appeal to YOU, don't just leave that flip flop at home to kill the bug there. Take it with you, take it every where you go. You never know when that big fat spider will come waddling on by, wont you be happy to have "A Flip Flop For The Spider"?
Wasn't that cute, how I actually did something with the strange blog title this time.
