so last post is definitely going to be a tough one to top, but I guess I have to try. We are in Uganda after a 12 hour bus-ride from Kaptagat, Kenya to Kampala, Uganda. We were supposed to spend one night in Kampala and then head to Lira, but because of illness running around (not me, don’t worry mom) we stayed for three days. Then we hopped on another bus and headed to Lira on the 6th… that was a fun bus-ride mainly because of the numerous stretches of road that had speed-bumps every 10 yards for a good mile or two. Yuck. Especially when you are sitting in a jump seat at the front of the bus because there aren’t enough seats for everyone and your knees are against the front dash when riding normal, and smashing against that dash every bump. Complaining? Nah, just sharing some fun points of African travel days =)

we also had the privilege of attending a traditional African wedding yesterday after service. Weddings and marriage in general seem to be somewhat of a theme for our squad lately. In Kenya the pastor that we were staying with prophesied that someone from our squad would be married within a year of leaving the race. Yikes. (not me again, sorry mom) so then during church announcement time rolled around and the first announcement was pointing out the couple in the church that was just back from their honeymoon. This was followed by lots of cheering, dancing, clapping, and upbeat music while the couple stood up awkwardly and people ran up and hugged them etc. then came the next announcement, announcing that so and so were engaged! This set off another round of music, cheering, dancing, and a rumba line of the worship team going and getting the couple and bringing them on stage. The pastor than congratulated them, and proceeded the congregation to not look at them as single anymore, so any guys that had any ideas about the girl or vice a versa better just forget about it.

That was it though, and we didn’t get any marriage proposals yet. So things are good. There hasn’t been running water in the boys house, so I may not have showered since the day after Christmas… maybe. =) love you all, thanks again for your prayers and support, they are felt out here in big ways!
