There's always that question, why? No matter what we are doing or sometimes not doing that 3-letter word loves to pop up. "What are you going to be doing on your mission", has been the main question I have been asked. That one is easy. I have said it so many times, that it just shoots out. "Why?" hasn't really came up unless it was loaded with sarcasm. Those are fun ones to answer!
I woke up this morning with the profound feeling of God asking me why I'm going. Now if someone where to ask me this, I would tell them something along the lines of, "we are all called to spread the Good News to the ends of the earth". This was different. Papa was telling me to dig deeper. After toiling on this for a while, I hadn't really gotten anywhere. Then a verse shoots in my head, Daniel 4:3.
Now I haven't read Daniel in sometime, and didn't know what to expect when opening my Bible. It says: How great are His signs, And how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And His dominion is from generation to generation. I'm thinking well thats great but I already knew that and even after reading it, I needed Him to reveal to me what He was getting at. It's really good! This is a royal proclamation from Nebuchadnezzar about the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. Now if you've never heard of these three guys, they were told to bow down and worship a gold statue of King Nebuchadnezzar and refused. They stuck to their guns and declared that they would only worship the one true God. So Nebuchadnezzar threw them into a furnace that was so hot it killed the soldiers that pushed them in. The Lord appeared in the furnace with them and delivered them unharmed from the fire.
Through the obedience of three men, He had one of the most powerful men to ever walk the earth falling on his face to glorify the name of the Lord. What I am saying is that God uses our obedience to show His glory. So to answer the question, I am going so that through my obedience His Glory will be known!
