The soccer field is complete!!

We finished it today, just in time for the futbol game Friday afternoon!

It may not look like much compared to American standards – just a dirt field with bits of grass still growing throughout it, chalk lines and uneven bamboo goals with no nets – but, I must say, we are pretty proud of our little field.  As we were finishing things up this morning, I began to walk the field. I was searching out and digging up the root remnants of the tilled up grass, brush, trees and weeds that would cause the players to stumble and hurt themselves while playing. At the same time, I began to pray:

Father, I thank you for the heart that You have for the Nicaraguan people. I praise You for providing for the daily needs and that they find joy and pleasure in the “little” that they have.  I see that the trust that they have in Your provision is worth more than any food, shelter or money in the world. You are good, Father. Today, I ask that you rain down Your blessings on this field. May the feet that run across it also run to You; and the roots that I am eradicating be symbolic of the uprooting that You will do within the hearts and souls of the Nicas in this community, eliminating any roots that threaten their lives running with You.

My hope is that this field proves to be a place where the community can come together for fun while being met by Father’s Spirit.

[Oh, and…honestly?…who needs P90X?!?! Grab a shovel, pick-ax, steam roller thingy and some Nicaraguan soil and get buff for free while establishing a good little tan in the process!]
