Hmmm, how do I write what has occurred in this one, half-week, in one paragraph? How about something like this…
Welcome to The World Race Training Camp hosted by Adventures in Missions. For a whole week you’ll be prepped, groomed and tested in preparation for the biggest life-changing experience of most of your lives. [Disclaimer: AIM is not obligated to give Racers any information besides what is necessary to know at a certain time and, even then, may withhold information at the sole discretion of AIM so as to simulate – as best as American-ly possible – some of the situations Racers may find themselves in while on the field due to language barriers, culture differences or personality deficiencies differences on the part of the contact. AIM reserves the right to exercise Racers’ physical bodies at dawn and feed them culturally relevant, but digestively irrelevant, sometimes scarce foods from various regions and nations of the world with the expectation that Racers will not (politely) refuse what is set before them, but will accept with a smile & grace, eating every bit and not gagging, choking or vomiting. This is to teach Racers the importance of humility, gratefulness and respect as Racers are typically the “honored guests” in some countries and are therefore treated as gold. Racers are led into full, honoring and (in some cases) stretching worship services where the devil’s not welcome and Racers are encouraged to “punch him in the face!” (cue Rocky Theme…aaannnddd worship!) while singing praises to the King of all. Racers will find themselves meeting each other before remembering that they’ve already met, determined each other’s location of origin, daily activities in that location and what has brought them to this journey eight times already. AIM will provide a safe environment of worship, team building, conversation and relationship with the understanding that Racers will sweat off their entire month’s weight loss in one week, some of which will happen overnight in tents, may or may not be able to shower daily and will most likely have to wear the same clothing multiple times. In the end, though, AIM commits to walking through this journey with each and every Racer, providing support, resources, prayer, love and experience for the Racer to lean on.]
